SUMMARY:Computational Approaches to Alzheimer’s Disease
DESCRIPTION:\n \n Registration\n \nDon’t miss your spot!Register as soon as possible.\n\n Duration\n \n\n 2 days \n\n Certified Hours\n \n\n 16 hours \n\n Event language\n \n\n English\n \n\n Posters\n \n\n Workshop\n \n\n No cost\n \n\n Focus\n \n\n Integration between  neuroscience and data science \nObjectives\n– Introduce computational tools to understand, diagnose, and model Alzheimer’s disease, integrating methods from biophysics, statistical analysis, and artificial intelligence.\n– Train the next generation of neuroscientists in modern computational methods. \n– Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among research groups in Antioquia, Colombia, and internationally.\nJustification \nComputational Approaches to Alzheimer’s Disease is a two-day international symposium to be held in Medellín, Colombia. It will bring together researchers from Colombia and the United States to advance the understanding of Alzheimer’s disease through underutilized computational methodologies.\nMoving beyond the field’s traditional emphasis on purely physiological approaches, the symposium will showcase innovative tools for understanding, diagnosing, and modeling Alzheimer’s disease. These approaches integrate methods from biophysics, statistical analysis, and artificial intelligence.\nThe symposium also aims to train the next generation of neuroscientists in modern computational techniques and to foster interdisciplinary collaboration among research groups in Antioquia, Colombia, and across the broader international scientific community.\nScientific Committee\nJan Karlo Rodas-MarínPhysician, PhD candidate in Basic Biomedical Sciences, Lecturer in Anatomy and Physiology, and Research Assistant at Grupo de Neurociencias de Antioquia, Universidad de Antioquia.\nJohn Fredy Ochoa Gómez\nMSc and PhD in Engineering. Associate Professor, Bioengineering department, Universidad de Antioquia. Leader of Computational Neuroscience, Grupo de Neurociencias de Antioquia.\nDavid Aguillón NiñoPhysician, PhD in Basic Biomedical Sciences. Professor of Physiology and Neuroscience, School of Medicine, Universidad de Antioquia. General director, Grupo de Neurociencias de Antioquia.\nJorge JaramilloPhD in Computational Neuroscience. Assistant Professor of Neurobiology, Neuroscience Institute, University of Chicago.\nMarlene CohenPhD in Neuroscience. Professor of Neurobiology, Neuroscience Institute, University of Chicago.\nPoster presentation\nOn this form, you can submit the abstract to be presented at the “Computational Approaches to Alzheimer’s Disease” Symposium, which will take place on April 23rd – April 24th, 2026.\nAbstract General Topics:– Computational Neuroscience. – Artificial Intelligence applied to Neuroscience Data. – Omics and Bioinformatics applied to Neuroscience Data.\nAbstracts will be assessed on their scientific content, including:– All abstracts must be written in English and should be 250 words or less.– The topic must be related to Alzheimer’s disease and/or computational modeling in neuroscience. – Only original research is permitted.\nDeadline: April 5th, 2026, 11:59 pm COT.\nDue to space restrictions, abstracts will undergo a selection process. Final selection will be informed by April 13th.\nIf you have any questions, please contact Jan Karlo Rodas-Marin: jan.rodas@gna.org.co\n \n Abstract Submission\n \nFor Poster Presentation\n
